Bad photos of a Lesser Black-backed Gull

As I’ve mentioned several times already, winter 2010 was a great one for Gulls at the Coxsackie Boat Launch, Greene County, New York.  The 3 common gulls were often joined by several Iceland Gulls and at least a few Lesser Black-backed Gulls.  On one visit I was able to get some distant and dark photos of an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, it was incredibly dark that day as these photos were taken in the early afternoon and are pretty bad.  Lesser Black-backed Gulls can be distinguished from Great Black-backed Gulls by their smaller size and in winter, heavy smudging or streaking on the neck.  But check back tomorrow, for some much better pictures of another gull
