Well so far, things haven’t gone as I had forecasted (I told you there would be a few surprises!) It’s 8am and mostly rain has fallen. There was a brief mix in Albany on the onset. However that being said, Wet Snow has started to mix it with the rain and in the last few minutes it clearly has become a pure mix. The forecast discussion at the NWS Albany stated that they had low confidence in anything working out in the Capital District. Sure the models say rain, but evaporating cooling, dynamic cooling and also cooling by the latent heat release of melting snow could cool the column enough for snow bursts from time to time. I believe one of those is happening right now, so stay tuned!
