Here are some shots of a Barred Owl that we found near Ft. Edward, New York. This winter has been very hard on Barred Owls, the deep snow with a thick crust has prevented their normal hunting, forcing many birds to hunt near road shoulders where there is some exposed edge. Sadly, I have heard of many reports of Barred Owls that have simply perished in people’s backyards or have been hit by cars.
