Mississippi Kite Nesting in New York State?

On June 1st, a report was made on the OS Birds List-serv (Otsego-Schoharie Counties in NYS) about a Mississippi Kite being seen in the Town of Root, Montgomery County, New York (The Town of Root, you may recall had a Northern Hawk Owl a few years ago).

Snowy Owl in June?

***UPDATE**** 7/1/09
I contacted Emmi again to see if she knew or had heard anything about the owl.  Apparently the Owl hasn’t been seen in several weeks and either moved on or perished, as Snowy Owls are not used to our summer heat.
